An enormous well done to all Reception boys and girls. You are making us feel so proud - you are all super stars. I have seen some amazing work and I am particularly impressed with the pictures and models of houses and homes that I am seeing. You are all doing so well with your number lines for subtraction and super phonic learning too.

Remember to do your daily reading at some point in the day and take your learning breaks whenever suits you and your adult. A big thank-you to all our parents for doing a fabulous job at supporting the home learning, we really do appreciate your support and also acknowledge that these are difficult times for everyone.

I am missing you all loads and I hope that we can be all back together very soon. Hope you enjoy working through the day today.

Session 1 Literacy

  • We are thinking about houses and homes this week and have been talking about the different types of houses around.
  • Look at the different houses on the presentation below. Today in our topic lesson we are going to be using the vocabulary that describes different houses i.e. terraced, flats, bungalow, detached, semi-detached etc.
  • Discuss with the adult the different types of houses that you saw and talk about their features i.e. a semi-detached house is joined onto 1 other house etc. Try and remember the names of the different types of houses.
  • Choose 1 of the homes on the presentation above to draw a detailed picture of. Remember to look closely and to add lots of detail to your picture. Try and label the different parts as we did earlier in the week i.e. door, window, roof etc. Try and sound out your own words when writing.
  • Once your picture is complete, say a sentence out loud to describe your house i.e. a detached house stands on it's own.
  • Now try and write that sentence next to your picture with the help of your adult.
  • I am looking forward as always, to seeing your super pictures.

Session 2 - Phonics

  • Let's start by singing our alphabet song. Click on the song below to sing along and say the letter names and their sounds.
  • Watch the video below to say all our speed sounds.

  • Let's practise blending sounds together to make words. Becoming confident at blending helps us with our reading, writing and spelling. It's really important that we practise this every day. Click on the video below and we can blend the sounds together to make words.
  • Next we are going to say our tricky words. Sing the songs below and say each word as you sing.
  • We are going to be learning how to spell the word 'my'. Say the word and write id down on a piece of paper. Spot the tricky bit of the word - 'y' is the tricky bit as we can hear the 'm'.
  • Once you have read the word and you know which is the tricky part, have a go at spelling the word. Did you spell it correctly?

Lunch Time -  Have  a lovely lunch everyone and a well deserved learning break.

Session 3 Mathematics

  • We have been using subtraction vocabulary this week and using our number lines to answer subtraction questions.
  • Let's start by singing a subtraction song to remind ourselves of the vocabulary we have been using.
  • Now let's use our number lines to subtract. Write a number line showing the numbers 0 to 10. If you are confident at using the numbers to 10, then make your number line up to 20.
  • Let's read some subtraction number sentences and then use our number lines to find the answer. Remember to jump backwards along your number line.
