Session 1 - Literacy
  • We have been thinking about the story, 'The Three Little Pigs' this week. At the start of this story Mummy Pig warns her three little pigs to watch out for the Big Bad Wolf.
  • This morning we are going to make some posters to warn the three little pigs about the wolf. Click on the 'Wanted' poster below to see an example of what we are going to be making.

Describing the Wolf

  • Design your own 'Wanted' poster for the wolf. Draw a detailed picture of him so the three little pigs will know what he looks like. Use some of your super describing words to add to your poster to help the pigs recognise him. We have to try and warn the little pigs about this character, so they will know he can't be trusted. Try and sound out your own words when writing.
  • Please ask your adult to email me your completed posters. We will be able to put some of these up in the classroom.

Session 2 - Phonics

  • We have been learning lots of new sounds. Click on the sound mats below and see how many sounds you know now.
  • It's great that we are learning lots of new sounds. We are also learning how to apply our phonic skills when reading and writing independently. When reading, try and sound out your own words and when writing listen carefully to the sounds in words as you spell out each word.
  • Ask your adult to say some words which contain some of the sounds taught i.e. moon, toy, turn, spoil, book, curl etc. Have a go at writing these words, sounding each word out as you write. Repeat with other sounds we have been learning.
  • Read the tricky words on our lists, as you read notice the tricky part of each word. Ask your adult to say a word from the lists and have a go at spelling. Remember when spelling our tricky words, we can not sound these out as they will trick us. We have to remember these words.

Lunch Time - Have a lovely lunch everyone and a well deserved break from all your super learning.

Session 3 - Mathematics

  • We have been using a number line this week and have been jumping forwards and backwards along our number line.
  • Have a your number line in front of you. Listen carefully for the words 1 more than / 1 less than.
  • If we are thinking of 1 more than we jump forwards 1 and for 1 less than we jump backwards 1 place.

Using a Number Line

This is "Using a Number Line" by Ladywood Primary School on Vimeo, the home for high quality videos and the people who love them.

  • Ask you adult to say a number and ask for either 1 more or 1 less than that number i.e. here is number 14, which number is 1 less than 14? which number is 1 more than 9? 1 less than 20 is...? etc. Use your number line to answer these 1 more and 1 less questions. Listen carefully to the words being used and think if you need to jump forwards or backwards.
  • Well done all of you for trying so hard with your number lines this week. Number lines are really important and helpful in Mathematics, so it's great to see that you are all becoming much more confident when using this resource.

Session 4 - Singing

  • Use your Charanga log in to choose some of your favourite songs.
  • Find the song, '5 Little Monkeys' and sing along with this. Each time 1 monkey goes away so there is 1 less.
  • Can you think of some more songs, where each time there is 1 less i.e. 5 little ducks, 5 currant buns etc. Sing these songs with your adult and use your digits to show 1 less than each time.

Session 5 - Story

Let's all enjoy an end of day story together.
