Session 1 - Literacy

  • We are going to be thinking today about all the things that we like to do. Listen to the story below called, 'What Do You Like?' by Michael Grejniec.

  • After listening to the story, talk to your adult about the things that you like to do both at home and in school. Think about all the different areas we have at school both indoors and outdoors. What do you like to play with? What do you like to do at home and at school?
  • After you have spoken with your adult, plan a sentence that you wish to write i.e. I like to play with the building blocks.
  • It's important to plan your writing ahead of starting. Once you have a sentence, keep this in your head as you write it down. Try and remember the word order and sound out your words as you write.
  • Draw a picture too to show the things you like to do.
  • Ask your adult to email me pictures of your work so I can see the things that you like.
Special Mentions Assembly with Mrs Grainger-Roystone - Please go to our assembly folder and find the special mentions assembly for today.

Session 2 - Phonics

  • Join in with the speed sounds below. We have learnt lots of new sounds and we are very impressed with you all.

Speed Sounds

This is "Speed Sounds" by Ladywood Primary School on Vimeo, the home for high quality videos and the people who love them.

  • Ask your adult to write down words containing some of the sounds we have been learning i.e. light, hear, chips, fish etc.
  • Blend the sounds together and hear the word it makes.
  • Read the tricky words on our lists and try to put these in sentences i.e. I went to the park. Underline the tricky word in each sentence. We know we can't sound out these words, we have to learn to sight read them.
  • Ask your adult to say a word from the tricky word list and have a go at spelling it. Before you spell it, make sure you know which the tricky bit of it is.
Lunch Time - Have a lovely lunch everyone and a well deserved learning break.

Session 3 - Mathematics

  • Today in our Mathematics, we are thinking about the days in the week. Join in with the song below to help you learn the days of the week and the order in which they come in.
  • We are now going to listen to a story about the days of the week. After the story, see if you can answer the questions.

'My Days of the Week' by Siobhan Dodds

This is "'My Days of the Week' by Siobhan Dodds" by Ladywood Primary School on Vimeo, the home for high quality videos and the people who love them.

  • Can you say the days of the week in the correct order? Can you write down the days?
  • Think about some things that you do on certain days i.e. we have P.E. at school on a Friday, I go to the supermarket on a Saturday, I go for a long walk with my dog on a Sunday.

Session 4 - Singing

  • We are really enjoying singing songs from the Charanga site. We really like the music and we put actions together to go with the songs.
  • Use your login and choose some of your favourite songs from last term. This term for Spring 2, we are singing the songs from 'Our World'. Enjoy your singing everyone.

Session 5 - Story

Let's enjoy an end of day story.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend. We are so excited about seeing you all back at school on Monday. I hope you all go to bed early and don't stay up late like the little tiger in the story we have just heard!

A big well done to you all for working so hard at home and for sending me lots of amazing pictures of your work. An enormous thank-you and a great big well done to your adults working with you at home. We really do appreciate the support you have given.

See you all on Monday. We will all be here to welcome you. Take care everyone.
