History Day

An amazing day in school today, thank you for your support.

The children enjoyed sharing their outfits and we discussed what they had come dressed as.

We looked carefully at the time capsules that children brought in.  They were fantastic.  The contents really showed what life is like in 2022.  Covid was a common theme! The children and their families had also written messages to describe what life is like in 2022 and thought about when they might open the capsule again.  It was really interesting to see the different photos and objects that were carefully chosen to go in the capsule.  Thank you very much for sending these to school.

In class we drew our own time capsule, also thinking carefully about what we would put in it, including information about our homes, transport, food, technology and what we like to do in our spare time.

We also started our class history topic about 'Castles'.  We learnt about who lived in castles and about the many different parts of a castle and their purpose.  We have a visit booked to Pontefract castle in March, more information will follow about this nearer the time.  King Richard II died at Pontefract castle, we drew portraits of him while thinking about what a bad king he was, taking money from the poor and promising a better life for people that he did not deliver.

Over the next few weeks we'll be learning lots more about castles.  You can see the details on the history knowledge organiser.
