If we can dream it ... we can do it!

Literacy Book day activities

Today is World Book Day -find out more about it here.

As today is World Book Day, we are going to do something different in Big Read. We are going to look at a specific author and find out more about him and his books.

We are going to look at Neil Gaiman. You might remember at the beginning of lockdown, we read a few of his stories and you all really seemed to enjoy them. There are some links on this afternoon's page to some of his stories.

The first thing I would like you to do is to find out more about the author and find some of the other books he has written for children. There is an author template sheet which you can use for planning and note taking but please write it up neatly with pictures. If you want to do it on the computer, that's fine too.  If you want to do it on the computer, that's fine too. There are some websites and a powerpoint to help you

some things you might want to include:

  • Full name and date of birth.
  • Where he was born and where he lives now.
  • Why he is famous / some of the books he has written.
  • About his childhood and family life
  • How he got into writing books and his ambitions for the future
  • Any other interesting facts.
