Primary School

If we can dream it ... we can do it!

Children are to select coins to make an amount from a set of coins given to them. They will use these practically, draw them and write the amount. See if they can use both pounds and pence to embed previous learning. Children continue to work on recognising money by selecting the correct coins or notes from the selection given. It may help them to partition or regroup coins when adding up the amounts.

Group 1, start on the first sheet and add up three different coins. Do a few examples of these, then work on sheet 2. Can you add up 3 other coins with a higher value? Can you really challenge yourself and possibly add up 4 amounts on the last sheet? I bet you can!
