I hope you all have a lovely day and do lots of super learning activities. Remember to take regular learning breaks throughout the day and to carry out your daily reading activities. We are missing you lots and lots and we would like to say an enormous thank-you to all your parents for the fabulous job they are doing in supporting your home learning. Thank-you also for sending me regular emails showing the work and activities being completed at home.

Have a great day everyone.

Session 1 - Literacy
  • We are going to be thinking about the story, 'The Three Little Pigs'. Before we read the story, talk with your child about what you know already about this story.
  • Let's read the story now - click on the video below to listen to the story.
  • Can you name the 3 different types of houses that the 3 pigs built? What were they each made out of? Which house was the strongest? Why was this house too strong to blow down?
  • Can you choose a house to draw? Look closely at the houses and notice their features, this will help you to add detail to your work.
  • Discuss with your adults the different materials that each house was made from.
  • Ask your adult to email me pictures of your work. I always enjoy seeing the activities that you have carried out at home.

Session 2 - Phonics

  • Sing the phonics song below and say the sounds that you sing. We are learning lots of new sounds now.
  • We are going to say all our speed sounds together. Click on the video and say all the sounds that we know.

  • Read the tricky word on your lists. How many words can you read now?
  • We are going to learn how to spell the tricky word - 'the'. Write the word on a piece of a paper and then read it. Spot the tricky part of the word; 'e'. We can hear the 'th' at the start of the word, so 'e' is the tricky bit. Now have a go at spelling the word. Did you spell it correctly?
  • Now let's have a go at doing some more blending practise. Click on the link below to practise your blending skills.
Lunch Time - I hope you all have a delicious lunch and a well deserved learning break.

Session 3 - Mathematics

  • Today we are going to be thinking about the number that is 1 more than a given number. When we count forwards we say the number that is 1 more than each time.
  • Can you count forwards to 10? Can you count forwards to 20? Say each number carefully, then you will hear which number comes next.
  • Write all the numbers in order from 0 to 10. If you are confident with the numbers to 10, then carry on writing the numbers up to 20 or 30 etc. We are going to be using our number lines to find the number that is 1 more than a given number. We will be jumping forwards along our number line as we are finding the number that is 1 more than.
  • Ask your adult to say any number from 0 to 10, or up to 20 and then you say the number that is 1 more than that number i.e. which number is 1 more than 9? Which number is 1 more than 12? etc. Do 1 jump forward along your number line to find the number that is 1 more than.
