Last Tuesday, we travelled to Holy Rood with three league debutants looking to impress. Once we arrived we knew it was going to be a tricky game as the gale force winds were blowing down the pitch. The first half we played into the wind and we really struggled to get a grip of the game and without 3 amazing saves from Elvis, one with his face, we would have been behind at the break. With barrages of attacks coming with the help of the wind our trio of defenders were fabulous cutting out other numerous chances. Harrison was the marshal as always and he was ably helped by Alfie and Noah. At the times we did manage to gain the ball, Loui, Jude, George, Olivia and Macey did well in trying to get the ball up field to our strikers Harvie and then his replacement Jacob. As the end wore to a close, we started to make changes and Loui as always never stopped running and provided a couple of half chances that Jude and Jacob did well to get strikes on goal but the keeper saved them comfortably.
Into the second half and Jess came on to make her debut in the league team and she continued where Noah had left off cutting out the attacks from Holy Rood and when they did breach her Harrison was there to mop up and prevent any strikes at goal. As the game wore on, at 0-0, Loui, Jude and Olivia started to get much more of the ball as the opposition tired and with the help of the wind we started to get strikes in on goal with both Jude and Loui coming close to opening the scoring. With around 15 minutes to go a scramble in the box from an excellent Jude corner left our youngest member free at the back post with the goal at his mercy. He took it on the chest and calmly slotted the ball into the back of the nets for a 1-0 lead to Ladywood and a debut goal for the outstanding Jacob.
With this goal it meant Holy Rood had to push more bodies forward in the search of an equaliser and that left them vulnerable at the back and with 5 minutes to go a great piece of play from Olivia gave the ball to Loui who rounded the goalkeeper to make it 2-0. A goal he thoroughly deserved for his endeavours in the first half keeping it tight. Now we were ahead we saw the Ladywood I have seen in previous games pushing forward looking for more goals however they just wouldn’t come until we won a free kick from around 30 yards out. Up stepped Harrison, who struck it like Ronaldo, with dip and swing it rocketed into the top corner to make it 3-0 with a minute to play. With the last kick the game Harrison picked the ball up on the half way line and on the volley and rocketed a shot that smashed the post and Macey and Harvie just couldn’t get to the rebound so the game finished 3-0.
A great performance in horrendous windy conditions. Special mentions go to Harrison, Elvis Alfie and Loui who never stopped running and to the girls who got stuck in and did some amazing tackles.

Friday League Match
On Friday, it was our Last league game at home to the unbeaten team of Cudworth Churchfields. This was to be our greatest test since our opening week defeat to Burton Road. Thank you To Bruce Dyer for allowing us to play at the stadium this season and to the parents that came to support us.
The game started with us playing against the wind with a number of chances from Tuesday’s game. The unbeaten side started confidently as expected but our defence that had only conceded 2 goals since the hammering at Burton Road were fabulous again with Harrison as always leading them and then George and Alfie supporting with a number of attack saving tackles. The central midfield of Louis and Charlie sitting deeper tried hard to get on the ball and set attacks up for Morgan on the right and Jude on the left. When we managed to get the ball Charlie, Loui and Jude tried hard to get the ball up the pitch but with a terrible cross wind we struggled to get the ball up to Connor and Liam and then Kenzie who was then sent on up front. With the wind causing us problems we were in debt to our amazing defenders and goalkeeper Elvis who made a couple of great saves. 0-0 at half time again. Could we use the wind to our advantage again just like Tuesday.
At the start of the second half Noah went into defence and George moved into a striking role and we started to get the ball forward quicker with Liam and Loui giving George a sight of goal. He struck two thunderous strikes that stung the palms of the goalkeeper. With the wind helping us now, we started to attack more and as we were growing in confidence, we played higher up the pitch and pushed Kenzie back up front to support Connor who was trying his best to give Loui the ball. Loui as always was a constant threat despite shouts from the opposition to keep him off the ball. It later turned out they had adopted a man marking system on him to try and stop him getting on the ball and they wanted two men to surround Loui at all times. The game entered the final ten minutes and the wonderful Charlie was starting to run the game in midfield breaking up attacks and getting the ball wide to Jude and Oli who both never stopped running. Eventually Jude got the ball to Loui who played a delicious threw ball to Kenzie who slotted it passed the on rushing keeper to score and make it 1-0. The game now became stretched and we brought Alfie back on to make 4 at the back and Morgan on to help the defenders who had held firm now for over 2 games without conceding. Churchfields continued to attack but it was Ladywood who grabbed the match defining goal on the break as Harrison intercepted a pass and gave the ball to Charlie who then played in Loui who passed to Kenzie who again finished brilliantly to make it 2-0 to Ladywood with 3 minutes remaining. Churchfields then were rattled and we continued to defend amazing stopping all their attacks. With this the boys were starting to play with a swagger and confidence and were extremely unlucky not to go 3 up when Oli hit a great drive that the keeper had to do well to save.
Another great team performance well done to the boys and girls for an amazing season. Well don you have been a credit to the school and the performances’ have improved culminating in this fantastic final performance against the formally unbeaten team.
