Well done to all of you who are working from home and an enormous thank-you to your parents for making sure you do your learning tasks and for sending me pictures of your work. I am missing you all loads and I am always so pleased when I see your fabulous work from home.

Well done everyone. Have a super learning day today.

Session 1 Mathematics

  • We are working on subtraction this week. Lets' start by remembering the key vocabulary that we need to use when taking away; minus, subtract, take away, leaves, less, difference between
  • Click on the link below to learn the subtraction words.
  • Lets's sing '5 Little Speckled Frogs' and notice how each time we have 1 less. Use your digits to show 1 less than each time a frog jumps away.
  • We have been learning this week how to use a number line when subtracting. When we are taking away along our number line we jump backwards. Can you make yourself a number line ready to use for our taking away lesson?
  • If you are confident when using the number 0 to 10, then make your number line up to 20 or 30 etc. Have a go at subtracting using larger numbers.
  • Once you have your number line in front of you, ask your adult to write you some subtraction number sentences. Read each sentence using the vocabulary listed above. Once you have read your number sentence, jump backwards along your number line. Where did you land?
  • Click on the link below to watch a number line being used when taking away.
  • If you are working from home, please ask your adult to email me some pictures of your number line work. Well done everyone for super mathematics.

  • Let's practise some more blending. Becoming really confident when blending, helps us with our reading and writing.
  • Remember when reading there are words that we cannot sound out as they have tricky bits to them. We call these tricky words. Can you read the tricky words listed below?
  • We are going to focus on the tricky word, 'was'. Write this word down and can you spot the tricky bit of the word? The 'a' is the tricky part of the word because it sounds like an 'o'. Now have a go at spelling the word and don't let it trick you!
  • Super phonic learning - well done everyone.
Lunch time - Enjoy your lunch everyone and a well deserved learning break.
Session 3 - Topic Work
