Session 5 - Story

Throughout the day carry out your daily reading tasks with your adult. We are trying to use the correct terms about books when reading i.e. author, illustrator, blurb, spine, cover, title, page. Try and use some of these terms when looking at books with your adult.

Also try and get lots of fresh air breaks and do regular exercise throughout the day. I hope you all have a lovely day and as always I look forward to seeing pictures of your work.

Session 1 - Mathematics

  • We are focussing on doubling this week and we are learning the double number facts. We can use a range of resources to help us understand doubling. The power point below uses cubes to help us understand doubling. However we can use other resources such as pebbles, pencils, buttons, socks etc. Use the slides below and if you wish to use a resource around your house to double with then that would be great. Please ask your adult to email me pictures of your doubling work so I can see how you are getting on.
  • Say the doubling number sentences with your adult to help you remember the doubling facts.
  • Try and complete the activity sheets below in order to apply your doubling knowledge.

  • We have to learn  sight read the 'tricky words'. They have tricky bits to them and that means we can not use our blending skills. Join in with the song below to learn the tricky words.
  • Have a go at spelling some of the tricky words. Ask your adult to say a word i.e. 'me'. Look at the word and spot the tricky bit of it and then have a go at spelling it. Did you spell it correctly? Repeat with other words. Make sure you know which the tricky bit of each word is before you start to spell it.
Lunch Time - Have a lovely lunch everyone and a well deserved learning break.

Session 3 - Topic Work

  • In our topic work sessions we are going to developing our drawing and observational skills. When drawing or painting pictures it's important to notice shape and features and to add detail to our work.
  • I have attached some pictures of dragons for you to have a look at. They all look different and have different features etc.
  • As you look at the pictures with your adult, use some of those amazing describing words which we were using earlier in the week. See if you can use some new words that you haven't used yet.
  • Choose a dragon that you wish to draw and look closely at it's shape, features, colour and detail. Try and these to your own drawing.
  • Once you have completed your dragon picture,  write some words to describe your dragon. Try and choose some new and adventurous words that you haven't used yet. Make sure you know the meaning of the words you are using. It's always great to learn new words and their meanings.
  • Please ask your adult to email me pictures of your work. Our art work and model making is really coming along now. I am really impressed with the creations I am seeing.

Session 4 - Singing

  • Log in to the Charanga site and choose some of your favourite songs from last term.
  • We are now working on Spring 2 which is entitled, 'Our World'. Our new song for this week is, 'Old Macdonald Had a Farm'.

Session 5 - Story

  • Let's enjoy an end of day story.
