Read books that you have at your house or the ones that are on your Bug Club accounts. Have regular learning breaks throughout the day and try some daily exercises.

Have a great day and I look forward to hearing from you. We are missing you all so much and hope you are all keeping well and having lots of fun at home.

Session 1 - Mathematics

  • Today we are going to be thinking about the days of the week. How many days are there in a week? Can you name all the days of the week?
  • Enjoy the song below and learn the days of the week in order as you sing along.
  • Can you write down the days of the week in the correct order? Talk about each day with your adult and discuss the things that you do i.e. on a Saturday I go to the supermarket, on Sunday I go for a long walk with my dog.
  • Which days do we do our school work and which days are in the weekend? Say a number sentence to explain this i.e. 5 days at school and 2 days at home. Try and write this number sentence i.e. 5 + 2 = 7.
  • Now we are going to think about how many months there are in a year. Listen to the song below and say all the months.
  • Discuss the months with your adult. Can you say the month that your birthday is in? Do you know the birthdays of family members? Maybe you could try and write down these dates.
  • Discuss what different things we do in the months i.e. we have a school holiday in August, it is Christmas in December etc.
Assembly with Mrs Grainger-Roystone - Go to our assemblies folder and listen to the assembly for today.

Session 2 - Phonics

  • Say the sounds on the mats below.
  • Ask you adult to say a word i.e. book. Have a go at spelling the word. Repeat with other words containing the sounds we have been learning. Try and spell each word using the correct sound.
  • We are going to remind ourselves of the 'th' sound. Watch the video below to revise this sound.

Using the 'th' sound

  • Use your phonic skills by reading the words below. Notice the sounds in each word.
  • Read the words from the Reception word list. Once you have read the words, ask your adult to say a word and have a go at spelling it.
Lunch Time - Have a lovely lunch and a well deserved learning break.

Session 3 - Topic Work

  • In our topic work this week, we are thinking about different materials. Please look at the non-fiction book, 'Materials Around Us' by Paul Mason on your Bug Club accounts. Notice how this is a non-fiction book and discuss the features of this i.e. contents page, photographer, headings, index.
  • Read the book with your adult and notice the different materials all around us. Name these materials as you read. Answer the 'bug' questions as you read.
  • After reading look around your home at the different materials that objects are made from. Can you spot things made from, cotton, rubber, glass, paper and metal? Draw pictures of these or take photographs.

Session 4 - Singing

  • Use you Charanga login to choose some of your favourite songs. Sing along and do the actions.
  • Let's all sing, 'Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes'.

Session 5 - Story
