Primary School

If we can dream it ... we can do it!

Thursday 7th January

  • Read the story of 'Never Shake a Rattlesnake'.
  • Think about which page was your favourite part of the story. Try to use the sentence "my favourite part was..."
  • Go back to the beginning of the story. Look at each page of the story and think about why you would should not do some of the things in the book.
  • Draw a picture of something you think you should never do.

This Half Term, we are focusing on Alliteration which is where two or more words start with the same sound

  • Sing the 'Alliteration Song' below.
  • Have a look at the 'S Sound' sheet below.
    • Can you name all of the pictures?
    • What sound do all of the pictures start with?
    • Can you think of anything else that begins with that sound? Can you draw a picture of this?

Mark Making

If you are beginning to do so please remember to practise to copy the letters in your name. For everyone else, please practising drawing anticlockwise circles and lines with pencils, crayons, chalk, sand and a stick, paint or water and paintbrushes. This helps us to develop our muscles so that we can begin to write when we are ready.

Have a look at the webpage below to remind yourself of some of the large circles we have done in class before.

Talk Time

This week's Talk Time is all about our favourite things. Talk to your grown-up about the different songs that you know you have tried and what your favourite one is. Try to use the sentence starter "my favourite song is..." or "I like...".

Learning Break Ideas

  • Find a spare pillowcase and get your grown-up to put an object inside it.
  • Can you describe what you can see in the pillowcase?
    • What colours can you see?
    • Is it big or is it small?
    • Is it hard or is it soft?
    • Does it make a sound?
  • Have a guess what object it is and take it out to see if you were correct.
  • Place another object in the pillowcase and have another go.
