Take regular learning breaks throughout the day and keep active. Read your books to your adult at a time that suits you. Remember daily reading is crucial in order to maintain the progress made so far.

Session 1 - Mathematics

  • Can you remember the 2D (flat shapes) that we found on our shape hunts yesterday? Let's name the shapes again - square, rectangle, circle, triangle. Can you remember the names of any other flat shapes that you found yesterday?
  • We are learning how to use key vocabulary to discuss the properties of shapes. Click on the slides below and see if you can guess the name of each shape from the clues given.
  • Did you manage to guess each shape correctly? Choose 1 shape at a time i.e. rectangle and discuss with your adult the facts that you know about this shape i.e. it has got 4 sides and 2 sides are longer and 2 are shorter.
  • Click on the shape song below and have fun naming the shapes as you sing along.
  • Draw pictures of the different shapes you can see around your house and name the shapes as you draw them.

Session 2 - Phonics

  • Sing the tricky word song and learn each word as you sing along. Today we are going to be focussing on the tricky word, 'you'. We are going to learn how to read and spell this wordSay the word and then write it. Look at the word and remember to find the tricky bit of it - 'ou'. We can hear the 'y' in the word but not 'ou'. So 'ou' are the tricky bits.
  • Now have a go at spelling the word and don't let it trick you!
Lunch Time - Have a lovely lunch and a well deserved learning break.

Session 3 - Topic Work

  • We are thinking about homes around the world this week. Let's watch the powerpoint again to remind ourselves of the some of the different houses you can find around the world.
  • We are going be using our designing and making skills by making a model of a chosen house. Look at the different homes from around the world and choose one of these to focus on. Talk with your adult about it's features i.e. what shape is it, what does it look like, what special features does it have?
  • Use materials that you have around your home i.e. old boxes, paper etc and create a 3D model of your chosen house.
  • Remember to ask your adult to email me a picture of this. I always love to see the creations that you make at home.

Session 4 - Singing

  • Let's all go to the Charanga site using our own logins. Can we sing the song from yesterday - 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star'.
  • Choose some of your favourite songs from the site to sing.
