Enjoy your daily reading throughout the day. Read books on your Bug Club or ones that you have at your house. Remember to take regular learning breaks throughout the day and keep active. Have a lovely day everyone.

Session 1 - Mathematics

  • Today in our lesson we are going to be learning about capacity. Capacity is the amount that something can hold or contain. We are going to be using the key vocabulary: full, empty, half full, half empty, container, holds, most, least.
  • Look at the containers in the presentation below and use the words full or empty to describe each container.
  • Could you find some different containers in your house i.e. a plastic jug, a plastic bottle etc. ? Have a go at filling these containers half way and then up to the brim.
  • Find a smaller cup and estimate how many cupfuls of water you think it will take to fill each container. Write down the number that you estimate for each container. Then fill each container, counting the cups of water as you pour. Was your estimation correct? How many cupfuls of water did each container hold? Which one holds the most / least?
  • We are going to find out which container holds the most water. Watch the video below to find out which container holds the most.

  • Have a go at filling different containers with the help of your adult. Compare 2 containers and find out which one holds the most and least.
  • Look at the jar of sweets in the video below. Is it full up to the top? Is it half way full? Can you guess how many sweets are in the jar?

  • We are going to be focussing on the 'ch' sound. Can you think of some words that have this sound? Write a list of 'ch' words.
  • Click on the video below and blend the sounds together to make words.

  • Read the tricky words: he, she, we, me. As you read the words, notice the tricky bit of each word. In each word the 'e' is the tricky bit.
  • Now have a go at spelling these words.
  • Use the captions below to practise your reading skills. You will notice some of the new sounds we have been learning in some of the words.
Lunch Time - Have a lovely lunch everyone. We are really missing you all lots. It's always so nice when we all eat our lunch together. Enjoy your meal and a well deserved learning break.

Session 3 - Topic Work

  • We have been thinking about different houses and homes. Now we are going to be learning about the different materials that are all around us.
  • Click on the slides below to see objects made from different materials. Try and remember the names of the different materials.
  • We are going to go on a material hunt and see if we can now name some of the materials that different objects are made from.

  • Can we all sing along to Rock-a-Bye-Baby?
