Session 1 - Literacy

  • Today in our Literacy we are going to be thinking of some amazing words to describe our own dragons. Yesterday in our topic session we all created our own dragons and these look fabulous. We are now going to be thinking of lots of words to describe our dragons.
  • We are always learning new vocabulary and today we are going to be focussing on describing words - words to describe our dragons. Discuss with your adult some words that you can think of to describe your dragon. Remember we are always trying to use adventurous words, in school we call these our 'wow words'. For example instead of saying 'big' we can say 'enormous' or 'colossal' etc.
  • Once you have thought of some describing words, try and write these down. Try and sound out your own words as you write.
  • Have a look at some of the describing words on the document below. Read these words with your adult and discuss the meaning of the words. It's always great to learn new words and the meaning of these. We can then start to use the new words we have learnt in our own conversations and in our work.
  • Listen again to the story, 'Tell Me a Dragon' by Jackie Morris. In this story the author uses lots of describing words. Try and spot some of the super describing words as you listen to the story.

  • We have been learning lots of new sounds in our phonics. Say the sounds below as you see them.

Speed Sounds

  • Sing the digraph song to help you remember some of these sounds.
  • It's important that we use these sounds in our own reading. We also have to  recognise the tricky words when reading and we have to learn to read these on sight. Use the video below to practise your reading skills.
Lunch Time - Enjoy your lunch boys and girls. Make sure you enjoy a break from learning and get some fresh air.

Session 3 - Mathematics

  • We are thinking about doubling this week in our Mathematics and we are learning the doubling number facts. Join in with the 'Dancing Doubles' below to help you learn the doubling number facts.
  • Use your own digits to show addition with doubles i.e. 1 + 1 =? 2+ 2 = ? etc. Say each number sentence with your adult. Maybe you can write down some of these doubling number sentences.
  • Use the slides below to practise doubling with the ladybirds.
  • Try and complete the ladybirds on the sheet below to show the correct amount of spots. Remember to double the number of spots.

Session 4 - Singing

  • Share some of your favourite nursery rhymes with your adult. Do the actions as you sing along.
  • Use your Charanga login details and choose some of your favourite songs. We are learning the song, 'Old Macdonald Had a Farm' this week.
Session 5 - Story
  • Let's enjoy an end of day story together.
