Session 1 Literacy

  • We are going to be thinking about the main characters in the story, 'The Three Little Pigs'. Talk with your adult and name the characters in this story.
  • We are going to be thinking about the character, 'The Wolf'. Discuss this character with your adult and think of your own words to describe him i.e. bad, fierce, scary, terrifying, sly, mean etc. In school we are always trying to extend the range of words that we use. Try and think of some 'wow' words to describe this character.
  • Look closely at a picture of this character in the story. Talk about his features and what he looks like. Now draw a detailed picture of him and write some of your describing words next to him. Remember to try and sound out your own words when writing.
  • Once your picture and writing is completed, ask your adult to email this to me and we can add some of your work to our class display. Remember to take time with your drawing and to add detail to your work. When writing apply your phonic skills when sounding out your own words.

Session 2 - Phonics

  • Look closely at the tricky words; I, go, no, to, the, into. Notice the tricky bit of each word as you read them. Have a go at spelling each word and then check to make sure your spelling id correct.
Lunch Time - I hope you all have an enjoyable lunch and a well deserved learning break.

1 Less Than Using a Number Line

Session 3 - Mathematics

  • Today in our mathematics, we are going to be finding 1 less than a given number. We are going to be using our number lines to find the number that is 1 less than.
  • Have your number line in front of you. You can have a number line to 10, 20, 30 etc. If you are confident with the numbers to 10, then make sure you are working with larger numbers.
  • Start at a number and jump backwards 1 place along your number line. We are counting backwards in steps of 1 and saying the number which is 1 less as we count.
  • Ask your adult to say a number i.e. 19, which number is 1 less than 19? Put your finger on 19 and jump backwards 1 to find the number that is 1 less than and then answer the question i.e. 18 is 1 less than 19.
  • Repeat with other numbers. Remember we are finding 1 less than, so we are jumping backwards each time.
  • I have seen some great examples of number lines this week. I like how some of you are making really big number lines and then jumping yourselves.
  • In school, we have used some chalk outdoors and made big number lines on the ground. We have enjoyed jumping backwards along this line to find the number that is 1 less than.

Session 4 - Singing

  • As we are thinking about 1 less than in our Mathematics, enjoy some of the songs below which show 1 less than each time.

Session 5 - Story

  • Let's enjoy an end of day story.
