Literacy/Topic

This week we are looking at a book of 'Hansel and Gretel'

• Listen to the story of Hansel and Gretel below
• Talk about something that happens in the story. Can you draw a picture of something that happens in the story?
• Talk about how the characters look in the picture below. Can you talk about how the characters in the story might be feeling at this point of the story. Can you give a reason why the characters might be feeling like this? Try to use 'because' in your sentence. 
• Use the recipe below to create the gingerbread house or Hansel and Gretel out of gingerbread.

Maths

This week, we are looking at 2D shapes

• Watch the video of Miss Wilding below to learn all about 2D shapes
• Watch the Numberblocks video below.
• Go on a shape hunt to see if you can find any different shapes around your house or in the local area.
• If you have any shapes at home, can you make a picture or a model out of them?
• If you do not have any shapes;
  • You could make some shapes out of Lego
  • You could draw some shapes, cut these out and then use these to make a picture.

Phonics

• Play the 'Super Smoothie' Alliteration game below.
• Create a new zoo with any animals that you have in your house eg lions, dinosaurs, cats etc.
  • Find all of your animals and put them together in a pile. 
  • Separate the animals so that the animals that begin with the same sound are together in the same part of the zoo eg tiger, turtle and turkey.
• Look at the Zoo alliteration Powerpoint below.
  • Can you copy the silly animal sentences?
  • Can you work out what sound all of the animals start with?

Talk Time

This week's 'Talk Time' is all about looking at where we can find information from. Talk about finding information out from a computer, a tablet, a book, asking someone in your family or someone who may know lots about a subject.

Charanga

Our song to learn for the next two weeks is 'Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes'. Please practise singing this song and try to copy all of the actions.

Mark Making

If you are beginning to do so please remember to practise to copy the letters in your name. For everyone else, please practising drawing anticlockwise circles and lines with pencils, crayons, chalk, sand and a stick, paint or water and paintbrushes. This helps us to develop our muscles so that we can begin to write when we are ready.
