Earth and Space

We know that the Sun, Earth and Moon are approximately spherical bodies and gave examples to prove this.

We then found out about the size of the Earth, Sun and Moon and how far away from each other they are.

Next, we used the idea of the Earth's rotation to explain day and night and the apparent movement of the Sun across the sky.

We then used data to draw conclusions about the Sun at different times of the year.

We then described the movement of the Earth, and other planets, relative to the Sun in the Solar System. We learned that a year is defined as the length of time it takes for a planet to orbit the Sun and that an Earth year is 365.25 days.

Finally, we described the movement of the Moon relative to the Earth.
