Number and Counting

We have been using a variety of resources when exploring 'more and less' and comparing amounts.

We have been using a '5 Frame' to help develop our number recognition and careful counting skills.

We have been developing our careful counting and number recognition skills.
We practised our careful counting by counting different objects. We were learning that numbers represent how many is in a set.
We have been learning about the language of quantities. We have been trying to describe groups using the language of 'more', 'less' and 'fewer'. We have been comparing concrete objects such as bean bags and pictoral representations such as spots on paper.
We have been showing an interest in Numbers in the environment by going on our own number hunt in our classroom.

We have been trying to represent number by using our fingers to show how many is in a set. We practised our careful counting and then counted out our fingers.

We explored representing numbers by making marks on the floor. We also tried to show numbers in different ways using different symbols and marks.

We compared the two groups of objects by quantity and then tried to match each group to their correct numeral.
