In the spring term in D&T we have been deigning and making torches. We used our knowledge and skills from science of how to construct a working circuit, conductors and insulators to help us. We started off by thinking carefully about the purpose of a torch, looking at different types of torches and evaluating them.
We made our own switches using our knowledge of conductors and insulators to make a switch for our torches. We tested out our switches by adding them to a circuit.
We looked at what product design was and designed a torch for a specific customer.
We learnt about Thomas Edison.
Having looked at different types of torches we decided which features made an effective torch, we then designed and made our own torches.
We evaluated our torches to see what problems we had and what went well.
