Welcome

Welcome to Ladywood Primary School’s website! We hope our website gives you a good overview of our school and the excellent work of our talented children and staff. To find out more please come and visit us.

At Ladywood we pride ourselves on providing a warm welcome to everyone who walks through our doors; visits to see us in person are encouraged.

Our building whilst an ugly duckling on the outside, is a beautiful swan internally! High quality learning environments which display children’s work proudly gives all who work here a feeling of both pride and belonging. Pride fosters respect and we believe in treating our environment and, each other with mutual respect.

Our building is separated into 2 blocks:

  • Top block housing the Early Years Foundation Unit and Key Stage 1
  • Main school housing the reception, hall, offices and Key Stage 2

The two buildings are joined by a covered walkway. All buildings have security pad entry systems and all gates are locked during the school day to provide a secure, safe place for our children to learn and play.

Our school grounds are extensive and include a variety of areas such as; grass, playgrounds, trim trails, a multi use games arena, shaded seating, tyre park and a forest area. The Early Years Foundation Unit has a separate fenced outdoor play area. As a school we believe the outdoor environment is an outdoor classroom. We try to provide the children with hands on experiences whenever we can and we enjoy taking the children on educational visits and to take part in local sporting competitions.

At our last Ofsted inspection in October 2023, the school was judged to be good. The report said that 'the school’s values of ‘confidence, resilience, enthusiasm, respect, curiosity and articulate’ help pupils at Ladywood Primary School to grow. Pupils are polite and friendly, and they engage well in conversation. They welcome visitors to their school. Leaders and staff provide a happy and caring environment for learning'.

Our pupils have great respect for learning and love coming to school. They concentrate well and benefit from many positive experiences such as the broad school curriculum, spiritual, moral, social and cultural development, sports competitions, teamwork, educational visits, residential trips, information technology, enterprise and learning about the wider world around them. Our ultimate aim is to provide them with the education, skills and experiences to prepare them for life in Modern Britain and an ever changing world.

Teaching at Ladywood is very effective as teachers, Higher Level Teaching Assistants and all the support staff form a competent and professional team that I am extremely proud of. Tasks for children are planned systematically using prior assessment to meet our pupils’ needs. All lessons are lively and engaging. We are an inclusive school.

Ofsted also said, ‘you have high aspirations for all pupils. Pupils are resilient and not afraid to learn from their mistakes. As a result, they have positive attitudes and enjoy learning.’ We certainly believe in having dreams and high expectations and challenging ourselves and our children to achieve them which led to our school vision statement and the strap line.....’If we can dream it, we can do it!’

At Ladywood we are a team akin to a large extended family in which we value the contributions of all the school community. We support each other and celebrate our successes together.

If you are interested in finding out more about Ladywood please contact us to arrange a visit; we will be waiting with a warm smile and you can bet without a shadow of a doubt that the kettle will be on!

Thank you for taking the time to visit our website.
