We use a text led approach to the teaching of English. Quality texts are used to drive the learning in which the objectives are taught, rehearsed and extended through meaningful, thought provoking and engaging lessons.
Please see below an overview of the core texts used to 'hook' children into their English and whole class reading lessons. Additional books, poems, extracts, clips etc. are used alongside these texts to support and enhance the English objectives being taught.
There is an end of day storytime session in each class, where the teacher reads aloud stories and poems to the class. The engaging and quality texts used, explore themes which challenge thinking and promote discussion.
