Read Write Inc. Phonics

At Ladywood, we use the Read Write Inc. (RWI) phonics programme.  This is a proven synthetic phonics programme that teaches children how to read, write and spell. We use a toy frog called 'Fred' which shows the children how to say the sounds and then blend these together to make words.  Most children at the start of year 2 will have a daily phonics lesson where they will be learning the letter sounds and learning how to blend sounds together to make words.
