Reading at Home

We aim to encourage a love of books and reading. We have lovely book areas in our classroom and weekly visits to our school library. Children share books and read with their friends and adults each day. We have specific lessons each week in which the skills of reading are taught.

We invite parents to support this reading journey and have provided useful information and top tips below. Reading to and with your child for at least 10 minutes each day can make a dramatic difference to a child's achievement within school.

Read Write Inc is our chosen systematic phonics programme to teach reading. Please see the information below which will give you further information and advice on phonics and how this is taught in school. The information also provides advice on how you can support at home.
